Is it really free?
Yes. The app is free to download and use, with no account required and no ads. You can record specimens, capture GPS and photos, and generate labels without paying anything.
Does it work without an internet connection?
Yes — recording specimens, capturing GPS, taking photos and generating labels all work fully offline. Taxonomy auto-fill and reverse geocoding use the internet when it's available, and you can pre-download map regions for use in the field.
Who owns my data?
You do. Everything is stored on your device. You can export your full dataset to CSV, or back up records and photos to a ZIP file at any time — nothing is locked in.
What kinds of records can I keep?
Single specimens, locality batches (many specimens sharing one locality), and trap batches with set and harvest dates. Every specimen in a batch receives its own catalog number, so each can be labelled and identified individually.
Can I print professional labels?
Yes. EntoLabels generates data, determination and QR-code labels as print-ready PDFs, with configurable sizes, fonts, date conventions and space-saving options designed for small entomological labels.
Is there an iPhone version?
Not yet — EntoLabels is currently an Android app. Follow along for news on other platforms.
